Chart Watch America: Chart of November 27, 2010
Our weekly recap of veteran artists on the current American music charts. Chart highlights
- Bon Jovi debuts strong with their new Greatest Hits set, starting at 5 on the Albums and 1 on both the Rock and Hard Rock Album charts. Their last album, 2009's The Circle, topped all three charts.
- Also debuting in the top ten is Reba McEntire whose new album, All the Women I Am, is at 7 on the Albums and 3 on the Country Albums chart. Like Bon Jovi, her last album (2009's Keep on Loving You) premiered at the top of both charts. The first single from the album, Turn on the Radio, breaks into the Radio Airplay chart this week at 38.
- The tribute album Coal Miner's Daughter: A Tribute to Loretta Lynn, premiers at 46 on the Albums and 14 on the Country Albums chart. Lynn sings the title cut on the album with Miranda Lambert and Sheryl Crow.
- At number 48 is the album of rearranged Elvis Presley songs, Viva Elvis. The album also debuts at 9 on the Rock Albums, plus Elvis returns two of his Christmas albums to the charts, Elvis Christmas (#92) and It's Christmas Time (#183).
- Marie Osmond has her best showing as a solo artist since her 1973 debut, Paper Roses. I Can Do This, a set she recorded to benefit the Children's Miracle Network, debuts at 71. When including albums she recorded with her brother Donny, the new album is her best showing since 1976's Donny & Marie: Featuring Songs From Their Television Show.
- At 86 is the new album from Quincy Jones, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra. His last charting album, 1999's From Q With Love, peaked at 72. The album also starts at 15 on the R&B chart, the highest charting album by a veteran artist this week.
- Dio, the band of the late Ronnie James Dio, premiers at 98 with at Donnington: Live 1983 & 1987. It's the highest that group has charted since 1990's Lock Up the Wolves. Donnington is also 18 on the Rock and 6 on the Hard Rock charts.
- On the R&B Album chart, Aaron Neville just sneaks on at number 50 with his new gospel album I Know I've Been Changed.
